MARBiobanc has started a process of renewing protocols and circuits to facilitate and promote the research carried out at Hospital del Mar and its research institute. With a new direction, headed by Dra. Mar Iglesias, head of the Pathology Service and researcher, with Marta Bódalo as coordinator, they want to optimize the capacities of the biobank to collaborate with the research carried out at the center and, through the establishment of strategic networks with other centers.

These processes focus on optimizing and streamlining the sample request circuits, as well as collaborating more closely with the Clinical Research Ethics Committee, to reduce the response time of the overall process as much as possible. The MARBiobanc has all kinds of samples, fresh, formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded, organoids, tissue, plasma and blood samples... But in order to donate these samples, it is essential to have signed the informed consent of the patients. Having this document facilitates the management of samples and enables their transfer. It is the responsibility of all professionals to request the informed consent in the interaction with patients, in order to advance in the quality research of diseases.
